GROUP SUSTAINABILITY TEAM
The group sustainability team co-ordinates the
implementation of the Carbon Management Plan
and reports on its progress to the Group Executive
Board. Responsibilities of the Group Sustainability
Manager also include the incorporation of progress
into the organisation’s existing sustainable
development governance.
Improve usage
information and
monitoring
We monitor our emissions down to individual
asset level and communicate performance to all
of our 45 operating centres on a quarterly basis.
This helps to drive continual improvements.
Detailed information is also important to drive
behavioural change, providing valuable feedback
to users on their consumption levels.
Behavioural
change
The Group has targeted specific behavioural
change through a series of campaigns. The
provision of additional usage information
has allowed for these campaigns to be
more targeted and has added an element of
competition.
Improve
the energy
performance
of all assets
The company has established a very diverse
portfolio of assets. Significant progress
has been made in the introduction of new
technology in many areas, but the improvement
of energy performance needs to continue.
Introduce new
low carbon
sources of
energy
The introduction of diversification in the energy
supply for the Group is imperative to achieving
net zero in any timescale. The initiatives will
include the consideration of all forms of low
carbon energy.
IMPLEMENTATION THEMES
Key stakeholders at all levels of management
provide overall support for promoting a culture of
carbon reduction throughout the Group.
A key to the success of this Carbon Management
Plan is effective engagement with staff and
the wider supply chain. Everyone has a role to
play in embedding and delivering the plan and
collaborative working is essential to deliver the
desired carbon savings.
