Net Zero Carbon management brochure 05'OCT'26 - Flipbook - Page 13
We have decoupled our growth and reduced absolute
emissions by 2% since our baseline.
Relative CO2e intensity has reduced by 18%,
demonstrating our continued commitment to carbon
reductions.
EXISTING PROJECTS
Whilst the Carbon Management Plan is new to the
Wernick Group, activity to reduce carbon emissions is not.
Below is a sample of projects that are currently underway:
Electric vehicle infrastructure is a Group initiative
to ensure that all locations have adequate electric
vehicle charging points to enable company vehicle
drivers to make the move to fully electric cars.
Our vehicle charging policy allows both company
vehicles and private users to charge their respective
vehicles on our estate, decarbonising both business
mileage and commuting to work. Our company car
policy now only allows Plug In Electric Vehicles
(PHEV) and electric vehicles
Introduced telematics into our commercial vans
and rolled out driver efficiency training to optimise
usage and efficiency
Installed two Voltage Optimisation units at our highest
energy consuming factory at Kenfig. This has helped
to reduce overall energy consumption by 6.5%
The Group has transitioned to a green energy tariff
We have successfully achieved SBTi validated targets
for our whole value chain
As we near the completion of our electrical
infrastructure across our estate, more electrical fleet
and plant will be transitioned, allowing for deeper and
faster carbon reductions.
Launched our Group Climate Awareness Training
package for management and operational staff
As a Group, we have moved to a single supplier
arrangement for our factory and depot network,
providing a consistent (and local) waste management
service. This has allowed us to measure total waste
generation within our operations and offices,
maximise recovery and recycling opportunities and
reduce waste to landfill to 0.31%
Introduced DFMA, an initiative led by Wernick
Buildings to ensure that all newly designed modular
systems dramatically reduce the number of
individual components used per module, leading to
significant material and packaging waste reduction
during the manufacturing process
We have now installed 598 kWp of solar capacity
across our estate. This includes solar installs at our
large manufacturing facilities and also new build
offices. We have recently achieved an EPC A+ rating
at our Inverness Hire depot
All new forklift trucks are electric across the Group
as we continue to decarbonise our plant
Installed an additional 118 kWp solar array at our
Kenfig factory, enabling the Group to produce
nearly 9% of its own energy requirements
34% of our modular and portable assets on fleet have
an indicative life cycle assessment detailing their
embodied carbon emissions
