CO2e REDUCTION
Wernick Refurbished Buildings delivered a twostorey building formed of 22 refurbished modules for
Network Rail at its Morpeth depot, transforming an
existing modular building into a modern office and
welfare facility for operational teams.
By refurbishing and repurposing Network Rail’s
existing asset, the project significantly reduced
material use, waste and embodied carbon compared
to a new-build alternative, saving 79.86 tonnes of
CO2e. Sustainability enhancements included solar
PV panels, triple-glazed windows, improved thermal
performance, heat pump water heating and EV
charging infrastructure, creating an energy-positive
building capable of generating more energy than
it consumes.
As part of the project’s social value commitment,
Wernick donated three refurbished cabins to local
community organisations, including the Scouts
and Cricket Club, generating £33,000 in social
value contributions.
