4.2 Apprenticeships
Our apprenticeship programme covers our core divisions. We focus both on
providing school leavers with the skills needed to access employment and
pursue a career, as well as upskilling and developing our existing employees.
This includes:
>> Full-term apprenticeships
Through our modular manufacturing facility,
depots and on-site delivery, we offer 18-month
apprenticeships across numerous trades. These
lead to a recognised Level 3 qualification and
include skills such as plastering, carpentry,
electrical, plumbing, painting and decorating
and maintenance / multi-skilling
>> Shared apprenticeships
We also partner with organisations
such as YPrentis and Cyfle
Building Skills to provide shortterm placements for individuals.
Enabling them to gain the necessary
all-round experience they need to
complete their apprenticeship
OUR PEOPLE:

“
We invest significantly in apprenticeships with each individual supported by a mentor and
structured training programme. This hones their skills and leads to full-time employment
with the business on completion. In 2025, we will be creating more apprenticeship
opportunities across the Group, widening our ambition and accessibility for those who wish
to further their careers with Wernick.
My apprenticeship at Wernick has given me a huge amount of valuable
experience. Having spent two years working on-site before this, moving
into the factory has been a completely new and rewarding challenge.
Everything we need is available on hand, so there’s no waiting around for
materials which makes learning much more efficient. I’ve developed a
range of new skills such as stud work and interpreting drawings, which I
know will benefit my future career.
What I really appreciate is the support from the team. Everyone is
always willing to help if I have a question, and having the office right
next to the factory makes communication easy and accessible. I also
enjoy working with the team here, it makes the job both fun and fulfilling.
I first heard about Wernick through an advert and word of mouth, and
I’m really glad I chose to apply. This apprenticeship has been a brilliant
opportunity and I’m excited to see where it takes me in the future.

OUR PEOPLE:
Sneha Yerraganti, Sustainability Intern, and Sreela Puthanveedu, Social Value Intern
Wernick Refurbished Buildings, York
“
In May 2024, we welcomed Sreela and Sneha for their internships at our Wernick Refurbished Buildings factory in York, continuing our successful relationship with the University of York.
They both focused on growing Wernick’s social value ambitions and formulating this into a strategy across the Group. During their time at Wernick, they both developed their knowledge
and practical experience of operations and how we embed sustainability. This helped them to develop a social value calculator to help quantify the value of our donations, as well as
collating the feedback and benchmarking to develop the Group’s new social value plan.
Their internships contributed to the completion of their dissertations and placement experiences whilst also both successfully achieving their respective Master’s degrees.
