4.6 Qualifications & professional accreditations
OUR PEOPLE:
Charlotte Lawrenson Assistant
Business Support Manager,
Horwich Hire
“
I started my journey with Wernick as a Hire
Controller based in our Horwich depot in
March 2018. After a few months, I moved in
the Business Support team and became an
additional member of the “Odd Squad”. From
here, I’ve been promoted from Business Support
Co-Ordinator to MCS Support & Training
Manager and more recently Assistant Business
Support Manager.
One of our core company values is to promote from within, allowing our staff to continue
their professional development. To facilitate this, Wernick supports staff seeking further
qualification and professional accreditation to increase their skills.
We continue to support members of our team to achieve professional qualifications and accreditations, with paid
time off for study and support and mentoring from senior members of our team.
As well as providing our businesses with the skills to support our customers, it ensures individuals can realise their
career ambitions and long-term prospects.
We have strategic collaborations with local universities around our main operating centres and hosted three interns
during 2024. We remain committed to promoting internships across the Group and continue to offer internships in
collaboration with the University of York and Swansea University as part of our ongoing dedication to promoting
hosted learning.
No two days are the same in Business Support;
from company acquisitions, to planning seminars
and developing the MCS-RM & CRM system, I’m
kept very busy!
I feel very lucky to work for such a supportive,
encouraging company who have always
helped me on my journey! The people are
what make Wernick and I’m fortunate to
be able to deal with a lot of them daily.
OUR PEOPLE:
Joanna Morgan, Impact Primer Carbon Intern
Wernick Buildings, Kenfig
“
Joanna Morgan is an Architect and has been working at Swansea University for the last 12 years, designing and
supporting the delivery of low-carbon building projects.
“
I have been working with Wernick since August 2024 to review the LCA process for modular buildings and
explore carbon reduction measures throughout manufacturing operations at Wernick Buildings, Kenfig.
I first worked with Wernick in 2018 when we designed and constructed an innovative two-storey office building
on Swansea University’s Bay Campus, utilising 12 Wernick modules.
We have maintained a good working relationship with Wernick since 2018 and undertook an analysis of the
performance of their existing PV arrays at Kenfig, back in 2022.
We have since secured additional funding to continue our work with Wernick and the wider modular and
portable building sector to determine methods to measure the whole life carbon of modular and portable
buildings, considering their reuse throughout their lifespan and the carbon of ancillary components used
within their modules. This project commenced in August 2025.
