7.2 Prompt payment
7.3 Training
We are committed to upholding ‘fair
payment’ practices and our target is to
pay 100% of invoices within 60 days. Our
public reporting for 2024 shows that the
average time taken to pay all invoices was
61 days. For invoices with a value below
£5,000, we aim to pay within 35 days
(the lower value often being with smaller
companies and sole traders). We continue
to report monthly on our payment
performance to ensure we continue to
propagate a culture of prompt payment
and provide all suppliers with a named
point of contact for any payment queries.
We also give clear and easily accessible
guidance on our payment procedures.
We provide training, guidance and
support as part of our onboarding
process for subcontractors, helping
them to build the knowledge and skills
to become a long-term supplier and
ultimately grow as an organisation.
This includes areas such as health and
safety, wellbeing, quality, environment
management, with shared training
through face-to-face toolbox talks and
virtual training utilising a mixture of
tools. We have successfully started to
roll out our Climate Awareness training
to our management staff.
7.4 Modern slavery
7.5 Anti-bribery &
corruption
7.6 Responsible
sourcing
We have in place a robust anti-bribery and
corruption policy and procedures. All staff
are informed of and trained in, to ensure
they fully understand its relevance to their
role and how to report any concerns.
We seek to develop close, long-standing
and mutually beneficial relationships
with our supply chain.
The Wernick Group is committed to
ensuring that slavery and human
trafficking does not take place in any
of its operations or supply chains. Our
robust approach is underpinned by a
comprehensive statement outlining
the reasonable and practical steps we
undertake to deliver this commitment.
Staff are trained on the risks of modern
slavery and human trafficking and
measures to mitigate these. Suppliers
and sub-contractors are also required
to acknowledge their responsibility for
adhering to our policy and to undertake
regular compliance checks.
To become an approved supplier,
organisations must complete a
comprehensive selection process.
They must also evidence their ability
to meet the high standards we maintain
ourselves. This includes health and
safety, environmental or employment
practices, which should be validated
and reviewed every 5 years.
7.7 Ecovadis
In 2024, the Group achieved Bronze
Ecovadis status, helping us to further
manage and improve the sustainability
performance of the Group and our
value chain.
