Completion of the ICEBERG
trial with Loughborough and
ENVA.
We completed an innovative project
with our partners British Gypsum,
ENVA and Loughborough University,
successfully delivering the ICEBERG
project. We provided the project with
post-consumer plasterboard waste
from our refurbishment process,
which was then used in an innovative
recycling trial. The ICEBERG project
aimed to design, develop and validate
innovative recycling technologies, to
make it possible to produce high-value
recovered materials with low levels of
impurities and which are safe to use.
From the production process, 1000m3
of new plasterboard was then produced,
containing a 35% blend of our waste
material. The boards were then used
at Loughborough University as part
of their academic studies for further
testing and for use within the campus.
It is hoped that the project will allow
for scalability of the recycling process
as well as addressing the issue of being
able to recycle mixed contaminated
plasterboard waste.
