9.0 Modular & portable
building innovation
The Wernick Group continues to work with our customers and suppliers to create
new buildings and solutions which meet both the needs of our customers and the
communities they operate in.
Throughout 2024, we invested in innovations and disruptive technologies that are delivering tangible
environmental and social benefits, including working towards net zero greenhouse gas emissions, improved
air quality and reductions in waste. As the average age of our fleet reduces and the number of GreenSpace
units on the fleet increases, so does the improved operational performance of our hire fleet year on year.
HIGHLIGHTS >>
>> Introduced reusable transport sheets into our fleet for
modular based systems (AVflex, PSflex and PMflex)
>> Completed a successful rainwater harvesting with Kier
on a modular building
>> Continued our work with academia to present a clear
evidence base to help shape our approach to energy
management and our wider social value ambitions
>> Collaborated with the Energy Innvoation Agency to
pilot projects and trial technologies to tackle energy
wastage and carbon emissions
>> Continued collaborating with customers to deliver
tailored, sustainable solutions
9.1 Wernick AVDanzer working with
Wernick Power Solutions
A major energy infrastructure project in Norfolk required high-quality modular
accommodation and battery storage power solutions, minimising reliance on traditional
generators and reducing environmental impact. Designed for thermal efficiency and
durability, the PSflex units provided comfortable office and welfare spaces. The 336kWh
battery storage was integrated alongside generators to improve energy efficiency and
reduce emissions.

9.2 Wernick Buildings, net zero
in operation
London Borough of Barnet sought a swift solution to meet pressing demands,
prioritising a building timeline that could keep pace with their operational needs. The
new Oakleigh office space had to align closely with net zero standards, incorporating
photovoltaic panels and other sustainable technologies to reduce its carbon footprint.
Wernick was able to deliver a high-quality, eco-friendly office space all within the
accelerated timeline required.
